holding T

I dont hold my T very often. Only like 1 time a week or so. She is chilean rose T. But the funny thing is whenever I take her out to hold she will either poop or pee on my hand. I dont really mind i was just wondering if this happens to any of u guys. It might just be maybe she gets startled or frightened..

That's odd.. I've never had my T do that to me. I don't hold my chilean rose often (haven't for months) but when I did, it never did that.

I'd have to be insane to try to hold my nhandu chromatis..

One of our rosehairs will often throw a little silk on you - but has never releived itself. Like Shelby I handle few and far between - I am always worried they will trundle/haul themselves off and in the 4ft drop just break themselves open. Last time I had one of the rosehairs out it decided to drag itself along with its fangs. Scared the living hell out of me - the whole time it was doing that it looked liek it was ready to just plunge them in.

It could be startled or frightened - any number of things. How do you get it from the cage to your hand?

Yeah they get scared so darn easy.. you breathe on them and they go ballistic. Plus that they make you itchy, though my rosea has never kicked hairs. (the chromatis will if you look at her wrong)

From what I understand pinktoes, genus avicularia, like to projectile poop and will happily do so on any human in range. Back when our rosehair would allow us to handle her, she never used us as her personal bathroom, but she did lay a line of silk up my husband's arm once.

Hm.. my a. versicolor is very neat and clean, however very secretive.. haven't seen her much.

i don't hold any of my Ts... wouldn't want them to bolt and die.

I don't hold any of my T's either. I react to the hairs as it is, why make it worse? :P I keep very few docile species these days anyway.

I have two avics one A. avic, one A. purpurea. The purp is small only about two inches and is very neat. The A. avic is about 3 1/2 inches and only lightly spays her enclosure with poop. I have hear of them shooting poo amazing distances when being held. But since I don't hold mine........
