info on selling and shipping snakes to other people
i have 3 bp's that i want to sell and have a coulple people interested. I also want to purchase a morph, possibly from someone just looking to sell(not a breeder) i've never sold or shipped a snake before and dont want to get ripped off. Whats the best way to deal with people you dont know and are not dealers or reputable?? And as an afterthought: Anybody with a pied for sale??

Fedex is really the only ones that you can ship reptiles thru. Here is a link to someone who is going thru fedex to be able to ship reptiles http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=28253. As far as trusting someone check on www.faunaclassifieds.com BOI section for any feedback good or bad.Do not fall for someone over seas trying to sell you a snake especially from nigeria:mad: .They will and have allready ripped off alot of people.Good luck

You take a risk dealing with people you don't know. That's just a basic fact. I don't know if there is a way to minimize it. Research on the BOI and getting as much information seem like basics.

In addition to that, I also try to ask others that I know and trust if they've ever heard of the person and their reputation (oh - I guess that's part of research, huh? LOL)

Just out of curiousity, why do you not want to buy from a breeder?

Why wouldn't you want to? Breeders are going to have positively healthy animals that they can give you blood lineage papers, feeding schedules, shedding schedules, growth, etc... From a breeder you know you're getting an animal that was well cared for, instead of joe schmo who did "insert deity" knows what with the animal. Yes you may pay a bit more, but in the long run it's definitely worth the extra bucks.
