Armadillo Lizard

Anyone ever heard of these or kept them? A reptile store here in town has a couple for sale and they're really cute... I've been googling and doing some researching and found some info. But most of it contradicts itself (yes UV, no UV... yes basking, no basking... lots of hiding space, not so much).

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has had any of their own experiences with these. Let me know and thanks!

When keeping animals with conflicting info....I always figure that you can go with the most (i.e. UVB bulbs and lots of hiding spots) and it won't really hurt anything. It is better to provide a little extra than not enough...

....I had the same problem when I was keeping fence lizards...btw...i need to type up a caresheet for them :) We would have one of the only ones on the net :D

Today has not been my day Daniel! Hehehe. Kinda got alot going on right now, a case of trying to get too much done before the kids get home from school.


You know, it reminds me of my uro somewhat. I think you need to get as much info on it as far as the habitat conditions of its native environment to go by. Now that I think about it.... I dont think I have ever seen anything like that listed in any of the classifieds... maybe it is newer to the pet trade.

A few things that I have read on them said that they are 'rare' in the pet trade....so send a few this way, those little guys are freakin cool.

I bet it requires care like a mali uro as far as temps even though there is alot of varying info, cause they come from africa apparently. They are in the Cordylidae family of lizards.

This guy seems to have kept them for awhile and I'm inclined to follow most of what he has to say. But, then, I've run into others that say these guys need high temp basking spots... I don't know, lots of conflicting info.

Daniel, they really are cute! And, honestly, I'm not sure this guy knows what he has because he's selling them pretty cheap. If I can get things set up, I think I'm going to have to get them.
