Fancy Humidity Control System?

I'm concerned about humidity. I want to get everything as close to perfect for our ball as possible :)

At the moment I have the enviroment and temps working as I want and I'm happy with that, but I have little "control" over humidity. While we don't have much of a problem with humidity I would still be happier knowing it was monitored and controlled. I'm about |<-->| this far from buying a herpstat II just because it logs temps and will email you if there is a problem, and I can set it up to view temp conditions online any time I want...yeah, yeah I know I'm a geek.

Anyway is there anything similar for humidity control? As in a control system that monitors the humidity and then can mist as required or somesuch to keep the % where you want it? I have looked online quite a bit, but I'm not sure of all the best places to buy equipment so I might be missing it. I can find misting systems, but they are all on, or off. I'd like a system where I can just set it to 60% and not have to worry about it, and crank it up during shed and so on.

I didn't read your whole post, but why not just use a humid hide?

They're cheap and very easy to make ... and they work great! :D

Rick look for humidistats for Greenhouses. I knwo there is some things you can buy to kick on a humidifyer in a GH when humidity is low. If your willing to spend the money I am sure you can use it for your BP. Is your humidity low? High? Normal fluxuation should be ok because humidity is not constant in the wild, but I;m no expert by no means. Hell I have been keeping my BP all rong for about 12 years. Doing well now, and I think I have the humidity under control just by vent holes and such. Goodluck and I hope I said something to help ya.

I know I'm captain overkill lol. But I like things to be right if I can. Especially with the something as important as caring for an animal that relies on us. Especially true with something that is so far from it's normal habitat and can't acclimatize.

We keep our ball in a viv, which serves two purposes, firstly to provide the correct enviroment for the snake (hides, temp control, humidity, water) and secondly and selfishly to look good in our home. While the second point is nice to have, the first is none negotiable :)

I know that a viv can be tough to maintain at optimum conditions and requirements for a ball, but I want to do all I can to make sure everything is right.

A bit anal I know heh.

Unfortunately, I am not personally aware of a device that would do what you are asking.

I keep Kashmire in a glass viv, and the three girls I just received are in Sterilite tubs. Let me tell you, just the heat combined with the bowl of water that's standard in their enclosure, their has hovered at 50-55% with no further manipulation from me (like misting).

I've had Kash in his glass viv since I got him in July and I'm "almost" to the point of getting rid of it and moving Kash to a Sterilite tub as well. I've thought about best environment for Kashmire vs. aesthetics for me - and I'm leaning more towards the tub not only for an optimum environment, but also ease of maintenance (lugging a glass viv to the bathtub for complete cleaning and soaking vs carrying a plastic tub). Quite honestly, I'm also getting tired of being a "slave" to the glass viv with all the misting that I'm doing.

Just some points to think about! :)

Edit - and of course Adam's suggestion is another great idea as well (of course!)

i don't think you really need this type of control, but if you can adapt one of these for a cage
