What's the Difference????
Alright, i'll be the first to admit that i'm an idiot but that's besides the point right now..
What i'm aching to know is what's the difference between a BCI, BCC, Suriname.. etc.? And what do they mean?
I haven't the slightest.
Re: What's the Difference????
Those are the inititials for the scientific names of the snake species:
Boa Constrictor Imperator and Boa Constrictor Constrictor. They're very, very similar, but not exactly the same. BCC's grow larger and tend to have more brightly colored tails and are therefore sometimes called "True Red Tails." The Suriname is a locale type of the BCC.
Re: What's the Difference????
BCI = boa constrictor imperator. Smaller species including these localities: colombian, nicaraguan, central american, hog island, and a few others. Pattern on back tends to be circle back.. like this on the back: () () ()
BCC = boa constrictor constrictor. larger constrictor species. known as 'true red tails' because they tend to keep the cherry red tail coloring much better through adulthood. Pattern often includes widow's peaks, though there are circle back BCC too. Widow's peaks look like this on the back: {} {} {} BCC localities include surinam, guyanan, peruvian and others.
BCO - boa constrictor occidentalis. argentine boa. Very dark mostly black and white boa. No red on tail. Circle back.
BCL - boa constrictor longicauda. peruvian long tail boa. Mostly black and tan/yellow boa. Very profound black stripe on head and side head markings are typical. circle back.
BCA - boa constrictor amarali: brazilian/bolivian short tail boa. Sometimes called silverbacks. Most have very pronounced widow's peaks -{}- -{}- -{}-
