Red spot
I took Karma out her new tub and she has a pink/red spot on her tummy. Is this something I should be worried about? Temps are okay.

Re: Red spot
She might be getting ready to shed. . . when was the last time she shed?

Re: Red spot
shes most deffinately going into her shedd. When the eyes get blue dont worry, and dont worry when that goes away, she'll still shed(i know its like duh but some people have said like, "oh no my snake has decided not to shedd, lmfao!) If you want, try to feed her but generally balls won't eat during molting but its happened.
She'll get less active and don't handle her much, only when necessary. And whats your humidity level at?

Re: Red spot
Yeah I can't tell if it's just a pink preshed belly, or the start of a possible thermal burn. I know I completely freaked the first time I saw a pink belly. I'm sorry, I really can't tell.

Re: Red spot
she shed last like 2 days after X-mas. Her eyes aren't blue but her color is changing a bit. I just wasnt sure if it was a burn or something... She hasnt moved her bedding around or anything so I don't know. She always eats though, and she's very active.. I just took a bunch of pics and she wouldn't stay still for anything. She's so sweet. I love her so much, and I don't want anything bad to happen. I think the red has kindof faded. I'll keep an eye on it.

Re: Red spot
Kashmire's tummy turns pink like that and in about 3-5 days I'll notice him starting to turn blue. He stays in blue for about 3 days, then will go back to clear and 2 days later, like clockwork, he sheds!
When I see the pink belly, that's when I start bumping up the humidity until he shed.
I was going to comment on your pictures thread that you can tell how much you love your little Ms. Karma!

Re: Red spot
yeah if you take her out during shedd she'll seem more active but is really trying to get some heat... fast, its so sudden for them because her labial/facial pits pick up the temp straight away, she'll probably be the fastest you've seen her around shedd time.

Re: Red spot
That's great. I'm glad to hear that it was only the preshed pink belly. During shed, snakes are very vunerable. I always see a decrease in activity, and the only time they are moving is to find a secure hiding spot.

Re: Red spot
Let us know how the shed goes.
I'm not sure what you are trying to say in your post, stevey, however our snakes are as Christie expressed....even more secretive and hide bound during their shed cycles and even less active (and for a ball python that's saying something LOL).
If you are noticing a heightened activity level during shedding, rather than it being the snake's need for "heat" I'm pretty confident in suspecting it's more like the snake just wanting to get away from being messed with, get back into a hide and get on with what it's needing to do.
