Can you feed these guys too much?

If so, what are the signs they are eating too much? My snake will eat 1 or two mice a week depending on how many are offered. He/she has not refused a meal. The snake still looks lean. Let me know what you think

I don't think that you can technically over feed a ball python ... they seem to be very good at correcting situations like that by fasting as they are so well know for. I've been around ball pythons for practically my entire life and I've never seen a single one diagnosed as obsese ... I've seen some fatties for sure, but in the end things always seem to work themselves out when it comes to balls and feeding. ;)

i have the same question. i have a female bp that is @ 1 1/2-2 yrs old, @36-37in. long and @ 7in. circumference. i got her about 8 months ago and she only ate twice in the first 7 months. and then all of a sudden about 4 weeks ago, she ate a medium size live rat right away. so i tried feeding her another the following week and she ate that right away also. so the following week i tried to feed her two live medium rats and she ate them right away, as she also did today. so, my quesion is, do i keep feeding her 2 live med. rats a week, or is that to much? each rat is the same circumference as her thickest part.

One medium rat should be fine if thy are the same circumfrince(sp) as you ball python.

i want her to get to her thickest healthy potential, so should i only give her one a week or keep giving her two a week? i want her to get big, but i don't want to overfeed her and compromise her health. i'm pretty new to snakes.

one a week is fine and when they gte older they grow slower. But one a week is plenty.

Personally, I don't feed any of my ball pythons medium rats ... no matter how big they are.

One small rat a week give or take is the largest I go. IMO, that's really about the most food that they ever need when kept as a pet.

i agree i too only feed small live rats and i don.t have any proplems with any of the one i own going of feed and they always eat with gusto(sp)
