    Boa, Boa, Boa !
    Hola como estas ! ... lol

    i figured that would be a unique way to start a post. Currently I have only one BP as you can see in my sig. I was doing a little research on Boa and i need help narrowing down the list. Im looking for something that can be housed in a terrestrial cage, a boa that is very docile and handlable, around 7/8 ft max (smaller would be slightly better) also doesnt require a totally different climate from the BP.

    Im considering the following;

    Central American
    Hogg Island
    Dumeril
    Red tail (Peruvian or Suriname, i was hoping someone could clarify the difference between the 2)

    If there are any other Sp. that im leaving out from the list that i should consider be sure to recommend them.

    Looking forward to everyones Feedback
    Denis

    Hog Island all the way! There is no guarantee that you Red Tail will stay that small. Hoggies are amazing snakes!

    what is the sci. name of that sp. ? because i hate looking at sp. via common names because they tend to vary from place to place so people use different common names for the same sp.

    Nicaraguan boas are also BCI (boa constrictor imperator)

    Hogg island boas ROCK. I have a female.. she's about 6' long now, but they can get bigger.

    Dumerils can get over 8'. I have a 7' 4" female that weighs 21 lbs.

    Peruvian and suriname boas are both BCC (boa constrictor constrictor) they just come from different countries. Peruvian boas tend to get bigger than suris. They also have more yellow color and tend to have a circle back pattern rather than widow's peaks like suris often have. Peruvian boas can top 10'.. for that matter, so can surinames.

    In my opinion nicaraguan and central americans are not nearly as nice looking as your average colombian BCI. Nics and CA boas tend to have muddier patterns and some can be pretty feisty! Most colombians are super docile and tame readily.
