    Curling up in water bowl?
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/129_2904.jpg

Last night I woke up and out of habbit I take a look at my snake to make sure things are going okay. The humidity had dropped to about 35% so i sprayed and the temp was around 94. I turned off the light to let it cool down a bit and backed the light away(my room was hot, not just the tank)

I noticed the snake was curled up completely in her water bowl like the picture. I checked on her again later and she had moved to her warm hide. This mourning I wake up and she was back in the water bowl.

Is this a natural thing? Do they do this if it gets too hot or to prepare for a shed?

    Thanks in advance

They often soak to help shed.. another reason they do though is to relieve themselves from external parasites. I would take a look at her up close. Look around her eyes especially for little moving dots.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, but take a look anyway. If you see anything, let us know.

She had mites about 4 days ago but since I've used the Provent-a-Mite product and havent found any more on her. I also took her to the vet last week for a first checkup and he said she was very healthy other then the mites, which i took action against

i know im not a profesional with snakes and i just reciently got my first snake:oops: ... but it might b mites still.. a helpful hint might b to bake its bedding (ex: aspin {which dosnt look like u have aspin.. so i dunno}) it might containe the mites, so ive been told...
then again like the others say, she coule b in a shed.. that or she/he just likes it. (my aunts BP like to lay in its water)

    hope im of some help:)

if you're going through mite removal, you might want to switch to paper or paper towels for a few weeks. the mites will be easier to spot and you can really see everything.

i was always under the impression that if the snake is looking to go into its water dish then there is a problem. Such as bad humidity or mites like people said. BP's are not water snakes so if they choose to do that, its usually a sigh that you may be missing something.

    Update,

She hasnt been int he watre bowl since this mourning. No matter what the humidity was she was in there. I checked her for mites today and she had none and was pretty happy once I took her out of the tank. I had just fed her a big meal so maybe that had something to do with it. Who knows...she seems to be enjoying herself now

Are the hides nice and snuggly fitting? That could have something to do with it I believe.

After a big meal, Snoopy liked to lie in her water bowl for a little while. Other than that she did it before shedding, no matter the humidity.

    good luck!
