New Pictures of Kyna & Rionach
Here's the middle two females in age in our female group of balls. Kyna who was an adoptee last summer and Rionach who we have raised since she was a baby ball in a pet store looking for a home.
Kyna's grown so much since July 05 when she was barely bigger than little Ri Ri. Now Rionach is a nice 690 grams but Miss Kyna has broken the 1,000 gram barrier and weighed out tonight at a firm 1,100. She's getting a little "attitude" with her growing up and has suddenly developed a huge feeding response (she was always good but a pretty gentle eater...not anymore LOL).
We don't normally allow much if any interaction between the snakes but for tonight I wanted a couple of pics of the two "middle snake children" together just to see how much Kyna has outgrown Rionach.

Kyna at 1,100 grams...don't know if the pic properly shows the really nice light yellow on her sides but it's quite different than any of our other females

Rionach stretching out in Mike's hands. She has always been a very socialized snake and a lovely female. We are really looking forward to seeing her babies one day. She has such a lovely refined shape to her head I hope it passes to her offspring one day.

Awwww, it's my little Punky Wunky and Baby Waby!!!!! LOL They are growing up so much! but they'll always be Punkin and Baby to me! ;)
Re: New Pictures of Kyna & Rionach
Just thought it might be fun to look back. This was Punkin, renamed Kyna, when we got her back in July 2005. She had a fair bit of retained shed and was chronically underfed though her previous owners were good to take advice and get that old shed off and truly did not realize what they had gotten themselves into (she'd been a gift). They came to see that it was best if she was adopted out and we were honored to take her in. She's come a long way in these months and we are just thrilled with her progress!
Some change eh! LOL She was believe it or not 18 months old in this picture. She was just such a little thing for her age back then.

They grow up so fast. :tears: *sniffle*
Re: New Pictures of Kyna & Rionach
Don't you know it Christie! I was just talking with Adam recently about how Kyna has sort of hit this teenager stage as soon as she got close to 1,000 grams. She used to be more of a gentle eater but now it's all business and "where's my darn rat!" and "hey where's another one!". I swear she somehow senses she's on the road to maturity and breeding and has settled down to business this past month.
She's growing in leaps and bounds and it's lovely to see her finally outsizing Rionach and taking on that more mature female body type. I'm still amazed when I lift out up and she's such a big girl now *sniffle happily*

Wow, nice gals you have there! Yer lucky to have so many females.. what are the chances of that?
Re: New Pictures of Kyna & Rionach
It just must have been fate Gin. Since that rush of females last year we've yet to find another larger BP for sale in our local pet store that was worth either sexing myself or having our vet sex. There was one but it had been kept in the same enclosure with a BCI and I was just leery of it. It seemed to constantly be soaking itself so I passed on it at the pet store so no idea if it was another larger female or not.
I am still thrilled to have gotten the two big females from that pet store. What a lovely bit of luck that was!
