You are correct... they should only be housed together for breeding.

I have housed 2 corns together for a while now. so does my friend, he houses 3 and when one got sick, the others were fine. be careful with this though, one may get the other sick.feed them seperatley.

    I wouldnt do it.

Its not a good idea, they will stress eachother out and may get sick and go off feed. People think that just becuase they do it, or have done it in the past that its okay....its not. People also tend to think that since the snakes curl up together that they must "love eachother" or be "friends"...thats wrong too. Snakes dont curl up with eachother becuase they are buddies, the do this becuase they are competing for the warmth in the tank and i have also heard that one snake can become more dominant and harm the other.

The general rule you'll get from experienced breeders/keepers is one snake per enclosure.

Corns, and colubrids in general, can be housed pretty cheaply since they don't have the humidity requirements of boids. They don't grow very large, so you don't need a huge enclosure. I have my yearling corns in 16 qt. Sterilites with aspen bedding, two hides, and a water dish. As hatchlings, they were in Sterilite shoe boxes. It doesn't get much simpler or cheaper than that. Sure they'll need larger Sterilites soon, but I'm sure I can find them for less than $5 each.

If you prefer to keep yours in glass enclosures, it will be a little more expensive, but snakes are not social creatures by nature. They'll do much better with a space to call their own.

I am just saying that my 2 have done well in a 50gallon for a long time. 4 different hides. they choose were they want to hide. it may not work for others, though.

Corns are also known to be cannibalistic. It's even more common in colubrids than boids.
