    mexican king ?'s
i have been wanting another snake lately and by this spring i will have made my decision. Last summer I held a nice black mexican king snake. wow was she pretty, jet shinning black. I love the looks of the kings but there was thing i didnt like. As soon as i held her, she musk all over my hand. i was also wearing sandles and i got it all over my toes. The owner told me that they are known to musk when handled. Is this something i should consider? If it is something that happens fairly often, i may choose another.

I have a MBK.. and I LOVE her. She has never musked me. Any king/corn/milk can musk, but will only do so if they feel threatened. I got mine as a baby and handled her frequently, so she is well adjusted and has never musked.

I have a mex black king - black "Magic"....and I love her...they are known for having good dispositions. As far as the musking goes, with frequent handling most snakes will give up this habit, and most adults don't do it at, unless w/c.

A good friend of mine gave me a baby mexican king and it did the same but after handing it alot now he is use to us and does love to be held. He is a great snake and I love him. I highly recommend getting one. Just a little time you will have a great snake.

    Yes indeed...

Mexican Kings are gorgeous snakes - I was first introduced to this snake when I attended an IRBA show out in Pomona California a couple of years ago... I was wearing black motorcyle type gloves at the time and I was holding an adult female Mexican King and she looked fabulous wrapped around my hand with the gloves on...she looked way too cool for words and I made my mind up that if I ever found one of these available some day that I would snap it up. I now have a two foot long juvenile Mex King that is going to make an outstanding display snake when she is fully grown. I had two of these but I gave on to my good snake buddy Penny ( otherwise known as MyReptile on this forum )

I did have a slight problem with pooping and musking when I first got Bad Karma ( yes, that is the name of my Mex King....) but she seems to have grown out of all that.

So, yeah - I highly recommend this species for a complete King snake collection.
