Here we go...AGAIN
I woke up and guess what? That slick mother popped open his cage and is gone. **POOF**
Last time this happened (cause the boyfriend left the top off... rawr), he was gone for 3 months! He just showed up on my floor one day with dust bunnies all over him :)
*sigh*.....

Re: Here we go...AGAIN
lmao, dust bunnies lol I was reviewing my records from last year to see how long Hades' winter fast might last and I saw that he escaped twice in February. Both times I found him in my soccer bag curled around an air freshener. The first time he ever escaped I found him an hour later under my dresser covered in the same dust bunnies you mentioned.
What kind of lid are you using? Mine is somewhat make shift, mesh with zip ties and clips. I'd suggest getting some clips on flimsy parts so when you find him he shall never escape again!
Hades' Operation Escape has failed every single night with a quaint thud or splash into the water dish :)

Re: Here we go...AGAIN
Well its a glass aquarium, put on it's side. It has the normal mesh top that goes with it, and those clips you get from petco. Obviously, I need some new (or MORE) clips!
Can't find the bugger anywhere though, and unfortunatly our bedroom is up in the attic. There are Doors on either side of the bedroom leading to the attic space, and there is stuff EVERYWHERE under there.
Hopeless.....

Re: Here we go...AGAIN
I don't know how much those clips are, but the ones I use are really inexpensive and you can get them virtually everywhere. They are black with the 2 silver handle-like things. *I think I've posted this somewhere else before...* I can't get the picture from school, but I believe I posted it in the Corn snake section under the topic "Houdini snake" Check it out and if not I'll get the picture on here when I get home.

Re: Here we go...AGAIN
They're called binder clips.
Also, I'm not sure that aquariums are built to be laid on their sides. I would think after time, the joints might weaken, but that's just what comes to mind, no facts to back it up! LOL
But why did you lay it on it's side?

It's a Tall size, and laying it on its side gives it more of a breeder tank shape, with a lot of "ground" rather than "sky" lol, if you know what I mean. He loves it.

Re: Here we go...AGAIN
I use nylon "buckle ties" to hold my aquarium lid on my 20 gal long. Basically, it's 2 long straps which wrap around the entire tank and then snap together. I can adjust the straps so it holds the tank top on tightly. I use a bungie cord on another rubbermaid to help keep it's lid on. That lid closes, but the bungie cord keeps it nice and snug if one of my snakes tries to pop the lid buckles.
