so i made an appointment, figured out how i was going to get there (no car), how to safely transport him there (middle of winter in iowa, well kinda) and how to pay for it (tight budget) and then basill decides to go into a shed cycle.

what some snakes will do to get out of going to the vet... lol

on the upside, he seems to be breathing a little easier... hopefully that means he is on his way of recovering, however hes still gonna get that trip to the vet. he just doesn't seem to be acting right, kinda sluggish...

the joys of being a ball python mother

    lol

Take him anyway! Shedding isn't an excuse not to go. I've taken snakes in shed to the vet.. it's better than waiting for the snake to get sicker.

A little stress is nothing compared to a possible RI. Wouldn't you rather either get that treated, or get peace of mind that he doesn't have one?

Well it's a lot more stressful for a snake to not be able to breathe! If you don't take him, he will get worse if he has an RI. RIs can kill.. a bit of stress because he's moved while in shed will not.

so i took him to the vet and the vet gave him a clean bill of health. she listened to his lungs and heart and they were just fine and felt his abdomen and that was fine. and he weights 392 grams, i would have thought he weighted more.

so thats relief that he a ok, and hopefully he has a 1 piece shed in a few days.
