Automatic mister.....

Currently, in order to keep humidity levels between 60-70% I've been having to mist the tank about 3 times a day. However pretty soon I won't be able to mist that frequently, so I'm thinking about getting an automatic mister that will do it on a timer.

Is this a good idea? Do any of u use them? And if so which one(s) do u use?

i'd like to know as well. Anyone used one of the homemade ones in the DIY section?

i personally use a small 20.00 humidifier from walmart. does just fine. every now and then in the winter we have to soak one or two. i'd be a little cautious about too much moisture in a cage, you don't want mold/fungus/bacteria problems.

is your 20$ humififier just sitting in the room near the snake, or hows it setup? I dont really want to have to humidfy the whole room (large) just to get a 50-60% for the snake.....

i have a seperate room, so the whole room is 50-60%. i know people that just put the humidifer right beside the cage/tank, works for them.

I also bought a humidifier and placed it next to my snake's tank, and it's the only thing that has ever worked to raise the humidity in there. It's still a struggle though, to keep the humidity over 50%. I tried an in-cage humidifier (it's just like the "home made humidifier" there's an article on this site for, only I bought this one) and it does *nothing*, even with most of the tank top covered. So a room humidifier is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

I have used the homemade ones before with good success, but it also depends on your cage size and how much it is ventilated. Regardless it will help to cut down on the number of times you need to mist. I now keep my ball pythons in a seperate room with a humidifier and keep the whole room at 50-60%.

i use the tropicair humidifier and have never spend a better 20 dollars. I just fill the tank and thats it for worrieing about humidity lvls. The do it ur self one that is posted here is also a good option

That's the same one I bought and it does NOTHING. I covered the top of the tank with contact paper and everything. At least with the whole-room humidifier I can get up to at least 50% and it's a heck of a lot quieter than the TropicAir, which bubbles and then there's the noise of the airpump.
