    Ready to strike...
I think she was kinda mad that I spilled her water bowl a bit when I pulled the tub out ;) All of the bps are settled in the new rack too.

Isn't she so pretty......hopefully she will be ready to go with the new pastel next season.....that means Pastel possible het hypos for me....maybe :)

I have a question that might sound like im questioning your knowledge but im not in no way lol you obviously know more about balls then I do

Arent those tubs too small for a ball python of that size? I thought balls (and most snakes) were supposed to have a hot side and a cool side with 1 hide box on each side

Rack systems are alot different than using a single tank or enclosure. Ball pythons thrive in confined spaces and in this type of rack, the tub itself can act as a large hide so as long as there is enough room for the ball python to move from warm to cool side it is generally ok. I know of keepers that don't even offer hides in rack systems and don't have problems. I also know of several keepers that keep ball pythons in the smaller Freedom Breeder racks which have tubs measuring 9" x 21" x 4" until the ball python is around 600-650 grams. I plan to move smaller bps out of these tubs when they get around 550 grams. She is at 545 grams now so she is about the maximum size ball python that I will ever keep in those tubs. Also, the tubs are not as small as they appear in the picture (the water bowl and hide being close together is kinda an optical illusion). These tubs measure 11" x 17" x 6 3/8"...so they are of decent size. As you can see in the picture below, each tub is rather dark....that is with the lights on in the room and the closet, so that is the most light that they ever get....so they feel nice and secure.

Oh ok..yeah I dident think about the tub acting like a hide box lol

Can I get your opinion on something? would a tub 16" from front to back, 13" from bottom to top, and 20" from side to side work for a male ball python at 3'11? If not what would be the bare minimum for one?

    Re: Ready to strike...
I have always been told to use the general formula of .....front + side = length of snake........as a general way of determining an appropriate floor size for a snake. Of course this varies from species to species....and so does the height. That tub might be a little small for a bp that size. I use 41 qt Sterilites for my large bps. They meausure 35" x 17" x 6". The extra height is not needed with ball pythons and just gives you more air to heat IMO.

That's not even that big compared to what else they have there. I picked up some Sterilite 1986's for my new ones. They measure 28 x 18 x 7 and are 40 quart.
