Beelzebufo and Wollywog. My froggy boys.
A little over a year ago, I decided that it was time to get back into amphibians again after not keeping any for a number of years. And, being a little ambitious, I went big. Very big.

This is Beelzebufo, the giant African bullfrog.

I got him as a little baby, and nothing could've prepared me for how he would quadruple in size at a rate no other animal I've kept managed to accomplish. This is the same frog, on the same dish, exactly 10 months apart.

He grew so fast that, in lieu of slowly upgrading tanks as he grew, I just immediately transferred him from a 15 gallon all the way to a 4x2x2.

One of my other choices for a frog was a pacman frog, and not long after the big boy moved into his bigger quarters, I got Wollywog.

I imagine the bullfrog can leap 6 feet or more. Do you ever let him out for exercise? If so, how do you do that? He's gotta be tough to keep up with.

I put him in a very large feeding tub (100+ qt) so he actually has to chase prey and not just have it handed to him. Dubias are very handy for that too since they scurry around which excites him. That and, even with rubber-tipped tongs, I'd rather not deal with him trying to swallow those with his constant terrible aim. Have enough trouble with the pacman regarding that (who recently actively tried to eat my thumb).

He's not terrible to deal with otherwise though. The worst thing that happens is that I'll change out his swimming pool, he goes in it afterwards, and immediately takes a massive dump in it so I have to clean it out again.

I hear you. That's why I steer clear of aquatic herps.

Those are both some mighty impressive looking frogs! :) I used to catch frogs & toads when I was a kid, but have never actually kept any. That bullfrog did some amazing growth! :O
