perfectprey.com - New Rat Sizes

I have had good experiences ordering from https://perfectprey.com/ and https://bigcheeserodents.com/. Both have good customer service and both vacuum seal the rats and mice. This means they last for a while. I try to order a box at a time, or a year's worth +/-. Save money on shipping that way.

I needed to do an order recently and noticed that there are more sizes of rats available on perfectprey.com now (or at least that I remember).

Namely, small/medium (70-90g) and medium/large (130-180g).

I go into detail below on what snakes I have that would like those size options, but if you do not want to read on, know that there are more options now.


The small/mediums are perfect for Shayna, my BP, or many BP's for that matter. When I feed her medium rats (85-150G) depending on the source (and usually right around 110-130G), she tends to skip meals. When I feed her small rats every other week, she eats regularly, but I'd rather give her something in between small and medium size. I have actually asked for "larger smalls," and have been accommodated in the past when possible. With the small/mediums I know I am getting a 70-90g rat, and that's perfect. Remember, that is about the size of an adult ASF, BP's prey in the wild.

Additionally, the medium/large rats are going to be great for Yafe (CP). He happily eats mediums every two weeks, and although he could take a large, I want to feed smaller meals more often. At this point though, he is about 2kg, and giving him something a little more substantial makes sense (even if he isn't growing much anymore). Feeding the medium/large rats sometimes (I'll still feed mediums to him) probably is a good idea. I figure every 2nd or 3rd feeding, I'll feed a medium/large instead of a medium.
