    Gene Questions: Mojave GHI Ghost
    Hello!

I just recently got my hands on a female BP with the genes Mojave GHI Ghost. I was just curious what other information there is about the morphs she has? Also, if she were to be bred, what genes should I breed with her?

    Thank you!

Ghost is a recessive mutant gene, so you'd need to mate your snake to a ghost or het ghost to get more ghosts. Mojave and GHI are incomplete dominants (aka codominants), so some of the babies would be mojave, ghi or both mojave and ghi no matter what ball python was the sire. I'd consider mating that female to a mojave ghost to try to make super mojave ghosts. Or perhaps a cinnamon ghost to shoot for mojave cinnamon ghosts, ghi cinnamon ghosts and mojave ghi cinnamon ghosts. But the final decision is up to you. The World of Ball Pythons web site has a calculator that will tell you any given mating can produce.

As a heads up, Super Mojave is a blue eyed Lucy... It's pretty difficult to figure out if they are indeed ghost or not if you do a Mojave het ghost instead of visual Ghost
I can't tell what's going on in this girl aside from super Mojave Enchi. She's a possible ghost. Also poss fire or citrus pastel too.

Personally I would consider adding a fire or orange dream gene along with the het or visual ghost.
Also. Desert Ghost is a different gene from Hypo/Ghost/Orange Ghost and will not make more visual ghosts when you breed them.

GHI Mojave Ghost is a gorgeous combo. I'd stay away from adding a second recessive to the mix as a new breeder. Champagne and Ghost look especially nice together imho, but you have to be careful what else you breed Champagne to if you continue the project for generations, as it can lead to wobble issues like Spiders have in certain combos. If it were me I'd probably want to experiment with Red Stripe and Leopard and see how Ghost looks with different combos between those and yours.

GHI can sometimes counteract BEL to an extent and make something really cool looking with Ghost, but it's not a sure deal, so not something I'd mess with as a new breeder either. I'd want to take time to find really low-expression Mojave for a project like that for the best looks if I was dead set on trying to make those.

Re: Gene Questions: Mojave GHI Ghost
I'm deep into ghi combos. Ghi mojave ghost is by far my favorite ghi combo. I'm also working with Lesser and pastel in my ghi lines. They make a lot of cool gray/tan colors. Just have to be mindful of bel when pairing down the road. Personally I would stay away from that.

If I were you I'd get a ghi ghost male for the female and try to produce a super ghi ghost male to use as a future male.

You can probably even pick up a ghi ghost for a few hundred bucks. Think i seen a ghi firefly hypo for maybe 350 or 400 at narbc last year.

Turn around and breed him to the female for all ghost combos. Put him to any other girls for ghi het ghosts.

Gl with the ghi projects! Definitely something I'm glad I got into such an amazing morph.
