Christmas Tree Storage Tub
Hello im wondering if i should pick 1 or 2 of these up just in case i decide to get a hognose or a common. What do you all think about these tubs for boas? are they easy to heat and keep boas in. Thanks Aaron also they are only 20.00 bucks
Re: Christmas Tree Storage Tub
These tubs are actually really good for keeping male boas in... and small females. But anything over eight feet and you're going to need to get her a cage.
Re: Christmas Tree Storage Tub
My parents bought me one, im thinking it will last my female until she is about 5 feet since its like 4 feet long. until i can buy her a large vision cage or build her one, ive got plenty of time to think about it before my worm becomes an 8 foot snake :) The tub is HUGE !!!!
Re: Christmas Tree Storage Tub
It could honestly probably hold her until she get six-eight feet. I've read that you need a cage at least half the size of your snake's length.
That said, for a full grown adult female, anything under a 5'2'2' cage would make me nervous.
Re: Christmas Tree Storage Tub
I picked up a tub of similar size from reptiletubs.com a while back. My adult black blood lives in it.
Re: Christmas Tree Storage Tub
Schlyne, it's sad to say, but it's the EXACT same tub. I made the same purchase and come to find out the flippin' tubs were at the WalMart down the road for $30 less than I spent at ReptileTubs... Not that the RT's one isn't nice and all, but the whole "money" thing... LoL. I have two of those huge tubs now and am going to use one to house Ruari, who is currently around 6'5". The other... Hmm :)
Re: Christmas Tree Storage Tub
well i guess im not going to get one since im not going to be getting anymore snakes i just thought about getting one just in case but not going to spend the money and get one. Thanks anyways everyone.
Re: Christmas Tree Storage Tub
I got the tub I keep my 4 foot male in at Walmart for $8...if you're not willing to spend that much just for an enclosure then it is best you don't get the snake at all. Especially when it starts to eat rabbits, which aren't cheap.

i didn't realize ruari was over 6 feet :O he looks so tiny in the pictures ...
but then, a snake eating a bunny and bunny looks like a small mouse going down... it makes sense he's bigger... it just never occurred to me until now!
when is he coming home from camp? i haven't seen any letters lately... is he still collecting badges and having fun?
Re: Christmas Tree Storage Tub
I finished converting one into a grow out for juvenile rats last night.
The only drawbacks I see to them for snakes are they dont have a unhindered lip (for racks). Anything that is heavy that is put in to them has a good chance of bending the tub. The lid isnt all that secure on the sides. and it is going to be awkward to move around. Cant stack without a rack.
Benefits are: its only $20. Basically the same as a aquarium. Can eaily be modified. Easy to clean.
Even though the benefits are a shorter list they do outweigh the negatives ::grins::
