    juvenille BP winter fast???
as some my know, i have had my BP sense june and i purchased her when she was a baby. for the past 2 months she has been feeding off and on. last friday she ate for the first time in 4 weeks. i am not stressed about it, just have a simple question. I know that larger Bps tend to fast in the winter months but i heard that its rare for a smaller Bp to fast because its still growing and needs that food supply. is this true? right now she is about 30 " and holding at about 440 g.

Check your temps and how often/much you are feeding. Sounds like some husbandry issues going on.

adam, temps are 82 cool hide and 92 hot hide and ambient temp is about 84. i feed/offer every friday evening. i have been feeding 1 adult mouse and one fuzzy but last friday i decided to go back to 1 adult mouse incase i was feeding too much. i was feeding a fuzzy along with the adult because the adults i have are only about 3/4 the size of my snakes girth. even if she does return to feeding every week, i am going to continue to feed only one adult untill i run out of my supply which is about 8 more mice. then i may try and switch over to small size rats.

I don't know the exact age of my BP, but last December he fasted and was about that size. He's much larger now and he is fasting at the moment too. I don't really know much about the age thing, but did you purchase her from a pet store? Maybe she's not captive bred.

CB or CH has no relation on fasting. With a nice warm cage and controlled environment, there really should be no reason for an otherwise healthy, juvi ball python to fast.
