Changing enclosures and substrates

Roxanne is only six months old and I ordered some upgraded hides for her, knowing that she is going through a growth spurt. Glad I did because literally yesterday I noticed that her hides started resting on her like a tortoiseshell and not on the base of the enclosure. The new hides I got are much too big so something a little more accommodating is on its way. Just wondering if I should return her old furniture to the enclosure or keep the new ones in then swap out when the more suitable ones arrive?
She’s already pretty stressed because she is near a month into shed and I have plans on not only having a newer enclosure soon, but planning on changing our substrate and some other elements.
I know it’s not as drastic as being shipped to a new home, but I want to keep her as stress-free as possible with all these changes going on.

The more changes you make, the more stress you cause her. Hides that are too large can be made to seem smaller by wadding up some paper to put inside. Your snake isn't the first to wear their smaller hide like a turtle-shell- :)
