    UTH Problems
i am having a lot of issues all of a sudden with keeping my UTHs stuck to the bottom of the tank like they should be and they keep falling off - was hoping to find some solutions?

If you're using the sticky pad they tend to come with, I've found that they tend to never last long. Get a roll of heat-resistant tape from a hardware store and tape the edges of the pad underneath the tank instead.

Some good tape to use is foil tape-- they sell it at home depot for use with heating and air conditioning stuff. I use it whenever I use a UTH on a plastic enclosure since the sticky pad lasts like five minutes for that. It is relatively expensive but it lasts a good long time.

Next time before you apply a stick-on type of UTH pad, be sure to clean the glass thoroughly, then again with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, to remove any film left behind- that can definitely cause a "failure to adhere". But now it's too late for that- as others suggested, tape the edges.

OR, depending on how much space is under your tank & what it's sitting on, you could put a ceramic tile underneath the UTH to fill the gap- & so the UTH won't have anywhere to fall.
Be cautious- you can crack the glass if the tile you pick is too thick for the gap & you quickly set the heavy tank down on it. Tiles come in different thicknesses- and you can buy a few random leftover tiles very cheaply from businesses that install flooring. Tile works great also because it functions as a "heat sink"- holding the heat a while like rocks do, if your power should happen to go off for a while. I keep a few tiles on hand, besides those I'm already using under tanks. ;)

thanks for all the advice everyone! used some of the HVAC duct tape and it’s been working v well so far - at present i keep all of the tanks elevated from the surfaces of the stands with oak floor samples - there is about a 1.5-2 inch space between the surface of the stand and the bottom of the tank
