    Treating wood for ball bython
Hi, I am new to the reptile world so I am still kinda figuring things out as I go. I found an awesome stick on a walk and i kept it to give to my ball python. I took off the dead bark, scrubbed it with dish soap, baked it in the oven for 2 hours, and covered it with the clear wood stain from IKEA. I was just wondering if the wood stain will be harmful for him? Do i have to cover it with something else to seal it? is there a better way of treating wood? This is the link to the wood stain i used: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/varda-w...less-20333102/
This is my first reptile so i am open to advice from people with more experience than me. This is also my first post so i hope i put it in the right place haha
Thanks in advance for your help :)

To be safe, I'd throw on a few coats of this: Varathane Clear Gloss Water-Based Interior Polyurethane.

It may seem expensive for a piece of wood, but, if you're the kind of guy who sees "awesome" sticks in the woods, this won't be the last piece of wood you put in your enclosure.

Wood stains are generally toxic, so I agree that sealing it with a clear coating that dries non-toxic is a good idea- make sure it has completely dried (off-gassed, so no odors remain) before using for a snake. If there is a tiny place on the stick that your polyurethane coating misses, it could continue to off-gas toxic fumes from the stain- so just be careful.
