    Wrinkled eggs after laying
Hey I have a female who I think laid eggs Saturday, but didn’t find out until Monday morning. She was moving around Friday actively so Saturday I peeked in her 55 gallon enclosure which is surrounded with black poster board, and she was in a circle but didn’t appear to lay eggs. She looked the same Sunday and then Monday morning found an egg laying next to her body. She laid 6 fertile eggs but they are wrinkled. Has anyone gotten to their eggs late and still ended up hatching ok? I have them in an incubator with 99% humidity in a combo of vermiculite and perlite. I can’t figure out how to attach a picture to this thread.

You can post pictures by downloading an app called Tapatalk. I’m curious to know what you mean by “wrinkled”

As an alternative to snow balls suggestion, here is how I upload pictures without external applications.

    1. Take the picture with your regular camera on a phone.
    2. Transfer to google drive; I think most people have a google account.*
    3. Set the image to be available to anyone who has the link, rather than restricted.
    4. Put the link in your post.

*For those without a google account and for those who want picture embedded itself.
    1. Take the picture with your regular camera on a phone.
    2. Visit https://imgbb.com
    3. Upload your image and select "Don't autodelete".
    4. Change embed codes to "BBCode full linked".
    5. Paste the result into your post.

For example, here is a picture of a harmony chart for the major tonality.

    * The < and > should be [ and ] respectively; I have changed them so that you can see the formatting.

This after I moved them from the cage into the incubator.

They really got dried out, especially that one on the left. I've hatched plenty of snake eggs- not BPs- & I've seen some (similar to yours) that manage to rehydrate & be okay, so don't give up- just wait & see. Did you candle them? I always do- & rechecking them in a few days or in a week will tell you more- some viable eggs don't show much color right away. Time will tell. ;) Keep your fingers crossed- good luck! Some or all could make it, IMO- but it can take a while for them to plump up.

That's good news that they can still pull through! I did candle all of them and they did have veins present, including the very wrinkled one by itself. I was able to get the humidity up to 99.6% as of now by putting glad press and seal on top followed by the lid. I'll check them again in a week and candle them to see how they're looking. If eggs go bad, will the veins disappear typically or will it still have veins present, but just doesn't go past that stage? Thanks!

When eggs "go bad" (don't survive) they usually appear yellowish when candled- they may get discolored, slimy &/or moldy on the outside- believe me, you'll know -they'll start to smell bad & draw flies! Mold by itself doesn't always mean it's a goner, btw. I think you'll see all or most of these plump up in a week's time, esp. knowing they candled good. Just keep their humidity up & think positive.

Just keep that humidity up in the egg box. That’s gonna be key for the next 50 days, if the eggs had veins they should be fine. As boger said, you will definitely notice when an egg goes bad

I appreciate the words of encouragement! Definitely a learning curve when breeding in a cage vs PVC racks where humidity is easier maintained.
