    gram Scale Size ?
hi i have a ball python about a year old now. and now a rainbow boa. i have been meaning to get a gram scale for keeping records but always seem to be short on cash. ive finally put this item at the top of my list but wanted to make sure i would only have to buy one. so keeping im mind what i have. ball python and rainbow boa. and that i wnat a green tree python or boa in the future. what capacity scale should i get. 1000 gram or larger. i think 1000 grams is 2.2 lbs should i get a higher cap scale for these kinds of snakes. anyone have recomndations maybe a digital postage scale?

    thanks

Female BPs are going to go over 1000 grams. even up to 3000 I think.

What I did was buy a shipping scale off of ebay. Mine measures in 2 gram increments up to 55 lbs. It was around $25 shipped.

Just search for 'shipping scale' on ebay.

Walmart sells a decent scale in the food utensil department. Not sure of the upper range but it should go at least 5-10 lbs. Costs about 25-30$
And it does also convert to the pounds and grams.
I got one, and it weighs at least to my adult male who is 1500 grams.

    Shelby,

I have a Columbian. He's just a baby now (150g) but if I buy a scale that weighs up to 55# would that be enough? Since you've got so many bigger snakes would that be enough weight capacity, or do I need to look at a scale that would weigh up to 100# or so????

    Thanks!

A colombian boa is not going to get to 55lbs. My big 7' dumerils boa is 21lbs. You'll be fine with the smaller capacity scale.. unless you want a burm or something real big. ;)
