In my opinion you get the most bang for you buck with the Spyder web

Before I had a dedicated room for my snakes I used VE200's and heat tape. Never had a problem with them. They are now being used for my incubators. I've never used herpstat.

I use Herpstat. I have five. I've had some over 10 years without any issues.

I have some cages on order and will be ordering some more for them.

Not that I have anything bad to say about VE. I've just never had one and have stuck to what I know.

I started out with VE300X2's (four or five of them, IIRC), and am gradually switching to Herpstat (I have one H2 and four H4 so far, and could use another H4).

Herpstats are more reliable over time, probe connection is more durable, way better customer support, somewhat repairable (I had a screen issue on one that Spyder sent me parts and instructions to replace), better functionality (e.g. an alarm on one channel doesn't shut down the other channels; max power setting capability), they offer units with more than two channels.

Good choice! I've got 3 different Herpstats and never had issues. Awesome controls and very reliable.
