Not feeding snake for two weeks?

My BP is very well fed and gets a medium mouse every 7-8 days, he's 5 month old. He's never refused a mouse.
As for my situation, I am currently very busy with work and for that I have to be away for two weeks. But to feed my snake I'd have to come back just for that half way through which would cost me a full day and a half.
My boyfriend is watching over him but he doesn't want to feed him which leaves only me.

I know he would probably be fine not eating fo that long but I am afraid it could mess up his perfect eating habits. Maybe he'd become a problem feeder if something changes I thought.

What do you say? This work is extremely important to me but my snake is my responsibility.

He'll be fine- he might even cooperate by going into a shed at the "right time". ;)

At 5 mos old as long as he is in great shape, 2 weeks won't hurt him or mess up his appetite. At first I read that as a medium rat every 7-8 days at 5 mos and I was thinking :O:confusd: "oh my he must be so FAT."

After a 2 week break might be a perfect time to try and introduce him to rats with that extra hunger.

I have tried twice with baby rats (20grams) in the past. He recognised them as food instantly and struck at them but after coiling he just let go, sniffed the rat up and down and decided it wasn't to his liking. Weird. Why would he strike but not eat it afterwards? Since then I kept to mice because he's still young enough.
So you think he might take it better when he's super hungry?

And lol yeah, that would be fat xD. He has grown so fast over the last 3 month. I got him at 100grams and now he weighs a little over 200. And it shows. He's gotten thick :D

That could actually be possible. He's already looking a little dull again. But it's hard to tell for me how long it will be from now on since I've only experienced one shed so far.

2 weeks is "nothing"- don't worry about it.

I'm about to do the same thing haha. I've got 2 bps (one around the same age) and a carpet python and I'm going on a 2 week trip in a few days here. I'm having my sister spot clean and change water during that time, but to keep it simple for everyone involved I've told her she doesn't have to feed them. Gonna feed them right before I leave but 2 weeks shouldn't hurt.

I would take the opportunity to try rats again. It’ll be easier on you and him in the long run to get him swapped over when he’s young. My male is about 18 months old and does a small rat every 14 days and has done well on that. Completely up to you, but my male is big enough now that a single mouse wouldn’t be enough, and I’d much rather just do rats than have to feed multiple prey items.

I agree with the consensus that 2 weeks between feedings won’t be an issue. He should be nice and hungry when you return.

It’s not a big deal if you keep your BP on mice, even as an adult, but he’ll eventually need 2-3 mice per feeding as he grows. I think it’s just easier, and less expensive, to feed one appropriately sized rat.

He could easily go a year without food ;) You'll be fine for 2 weeks. In the wild, they eat when they can find food and there is no schedule for that.
