    New Ball Pythons #2 & 3
After a very difficult start last year, my daughter's ball python, Joe (full name as chosen by her at 6 years old...Josipher Tiara Biden), is doing well and I finally got up the courage to try and add to the collection with a python for myself and my partner.

    Introducing Persephone, the firefly piebald:

and the as of yet unnamed banana piebald:

They're both in their tubs and having their first "undisturbed week" before feeding. Fingers crossed that they're easier than Joe was!

Named and settling in and eating well! Not handling yet, just feeding the hungry buggers.

First handling for Persephone. Not terrified, but obviously not 100% sure I'm not gonna eat her either. Ate just fine 2 days later though!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f92b805ccf.jpg

As a new owner of these two with only 1 prior BP to compare to, I'm struck by just how much variation in the personality there is.

Persephone does not want to explore. She'll sit perfectly still on my hand, not balled up and not hiding...just chilling out. Lumi on the other hand is curious, moves around, and wanders. I would have thought that given how bold Persephone is with food that she'd be bold elsewhere too, but while she might be a stone cold predator, she's very chill. Lumi is a more hesitant feeder but "happy" to explore.

Both beautiful- & yeah, that keeps it interesting, the different personalities that snakes have. Even when they're siblings- like the 3 young rat snakes I have- they can be as different as night & day. One of mine was hyper-defensive- it took a long time to get her to accept handling without barrel-rolling & thrashing about, but I've also enjoyed the challenge, finally getting her to calm down, but she still gets a little panicky when I first pick her up. The other two are very calm, one of them excessively so. Makes no sense...but if they were all the same, I'd only need one snake? ;)
