Sealing inside of DIY

I am making a DIY cage and I'm using plywood for the floors, laying flexwatt across the inside and attaching a thermostat, then laying plexi over the flexwatt and plywood on the inside. Because all my cuts are perfect, I have some cracks between the floor and the walls, what I can I use to seal the edge and fill the cracks between the floors and the wall. I was sort of thinking about aquarium glue, but I'm not sure if that will work. Any ideas or help, Thanks

Is the plywood or the plexiglass going to be the interior floor of the enclosure?

What type of animal are you going to be placing inside?

Yeah those silicone sealent is pretty good to fill up gap and they're also moist resistent.

plexi will the the interrior flooring. The plexi will lay on top of a wood floor.

You may want to consider making it so the gap between the plexi and plywood also allows for a little more space, b/c I would think it would be a fire hazard or possible risk of problems due to possibly not enough sufficient air flow around the heat tape. Also, if the heat tape ever failed, what is your future plan of being able to get to the heat tape for replacement/repair? How about attaching the plexi and forgetting the plywood on the bottom to allow the air flow for the heat tape. Maybe provide a spacer of some sort between the 2 materials to allow air flow with some type of cut into the bottom (plywood) to allow for that.


Keep in mind, it is good to wait for someone who has knowledge on building thier own enclosure, above are just my thoughts, and unfortunately, I tend to think like a fire fighter and analize (sp) for any fire hazards.

I was given the suggestion that with a thermostat I wouldn't have to worry about it getting too hot. However, you make a good point about what if the flexwatt fails, its going to be a pain to replace it. Hrmmm...

How about using a pro-heat mat inside the enclosure.

Or heat panels for inside...

Just put two screw holes on the to front corners of the floor. So if it fails all you have to do is screw in a screw in each hole and lift it up. When you're done just take the screws out so the pet won't get hurt on them.
