15QT tub gradient setup?

Made the switch to a tub enclosure for my 380G snake. Going off a different BP group it states up until 800G that it should be ok in a 15QT. I set up my 88-90F hot spot covering about 1/3 of the tub. I keep my snake room at 79-80F. My ambient temperature inside the tub sits 80.5-81F. Cool side ground temps read about the same. Is this correct? Hearing from a few people on the other BP group saying a 15Qt tub is too small for a gradient. Also hearing from a few people that it’s acceptable. What are your opinions?

It can be difficult to create a gradient in a small tub like that. If you find your snake spending a lot of time on the cool side then try dropping the hot spot down to 87-88*F.

Appreciate the response! So far ever since I’ve moved him into the tub he’s been on the warm side in his hide. I originally had the heat mat covering 1/2 the tub. This was before I moved him in. It was getting too warm on the cool side. So I ended up doing about 1/3 of the tub. Just checked my temps on the cool side again and the paper towels are reading 79-80F. Now when you and other people say it’s harder to create the gradient. Does it all depend on how much of the heat mat you place on your tub? Essentially as long as the heat mat covers the whole snake then the rest of the tank would be your ambient temperature correct?

Yes that sounds right. Your room is warm enough you don't need the heat pad to cover a lot of the tub.
