Rat snake - Male or female
    https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...ibb.co/nr3cPxyHey yall,
Considering this is one of the more active snake forums out there, I decided to post this here. I’m asking this out of curiosity.
It’s still a juvenile so yall may not be able to tell me, but figured it was worth a shot. I did research and watched videos tryin to tell, but with no other rat snake to comparehttps://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...ibb.co/nr3cPxy it to, I’m havin a hard time deciding if it leans towards male or female. I marked the yellow arrow to where the vent is, and from the vent, the tail is approximately 6 inches. https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...ibb.co/nr3cPxyThanks for any insight yall give!

I'd guess male from that pic, but I've never gone on appearance alone. However, probing or popping is best done by those with experience so you don't hurt (injure) the snake.

Thank you for the help. And absolutely.
Would you be able to tell me generally how long(inches) each respective gender's tails are?

No, it's all relative to their body size- in general males have the longer tails, but unless you have same-age siblings, that description isn't much help. Even then, they might not be growing at the same rate- many things can throw you off when trying to tell a snake's gender just "by looking". As the snake grows, so too does their tail.

Once they are a bit more mature, the shape can help a bit but I haven't had enough experience to tell from your picture and rely on popping/probing.
