    The Boy Hits 9 Years.
Back on April 23, 2013 I scored this fella.

He's the second oldest snake here. The royal will hit 10 years old on July 28.

Happy B-day Sniper. I'm about 13 hours early as the official day is June 27th.

This Barranquilla, Colombian boa constrictor has held his colors fairly well and he's been exceptionally easy to handle almost from the start.

    Enjoy your day buddy.

I'll feed him tomorrow as he's gone 4 plus weeks since his last rabbit.
I also may move him to the 6 foot cage and put the longer carpet in his current cage. He seems to be more active than the coastal.

He runs the deck rail like a pro.

I didn't know our dudes were close to the same B-day date. Sniper is in good company with Gomez.

just curious what are his length and weight measurements? i was looking at a Boa like yours before i got my B.P, but i was scared off by the growth potential, 7 t0 10 feet but usually only the Female has the chance to get 10 feet, yes? thx

I would not expect a female of this locale to be much more than 7 feet long.
This male is a pet not a breeding male and I don’t have any other boa in the home. He will not experience pheromone cues put out by a female.
His size is similar to a decent sized female. I’m not sure of his length. Over 6 feet but maybe a bit under 7 or right at 7 feet.

I’m guessing the weight is 15-25 pounds.

Male boas have the potential to equal the size of the females if raised as a pet.
He’s fed infrequently but he’s also not driven for a mate so he grows.

There are many locality boas that stay near or less than 7 feet.

This guy is so easy to care for he could be 8 feet and not pose any issues.

Happy Birthday Sniper! I love all his speckles and how dark it makes his red tail look. Big boy!

Happy birthday Sniper! Glad to see that one of the boas that got me into boas is aging like a champ. :gj:

Got my own round of snake birthdays coming up. Pandora turns one on July 3rd, Kuzco turns two on July 14th, and Adelita turns two [gestures vaguely at "early August"]. Gotta love baby snake/snake birthday season!

That's a great looking snake genetics wise...which anyone can buy but I remember a time when someone showed a picture of decade old boa and it looked like a stuffed sausage.

Good job friend, that boa is a stud beyond his genetics because of the attention to care he is given.
