Switching to CHE

Well I realized lights aren't doing the best for me anymore with prices and want my burm to have a better life without lights at night. He's about 3ft long and in a 48" x 18" x 24" but im in the process of building a bigger one. Ambient Temps of the room range from mid 70s to low 80s. What wattage CHE should I use for now and what should I use in his future 8x4x4?

why not just get a timmer and have the lights off at nigh? Unless your using them for heating.

What are you building the enclosure out of?

Is the heat source going to be inside the enclosure?

If so, I would get a radiant heat panel over a CHE. A CHE is blazing hot and I would never use one inside an enclosure. A RHP is much safer.

You can contact ProProducts and tell them about the enclosure and the snake you're keeping and they'll tell you exactly what you need.

Yes I plan on using pro products once I finish building his big enclosure. Until then I'm wanting to use a CHE until then because this will be my last reptile so I don't really wanna buy a panel to use for a couple months.

CHE is dry heat and will dry up the enclosure. I think burms need some humidity. Radiant heat panels do not reduce humidity as bad as CHE while warming up the enclosure. Thermostats is a must for all heat sources and CHE is no exception. The fixture can be very hot so if putting it inside the enclosure, you must make sure you have something around the fixture that would protect your snake from making contact with it to prevent burns. Overall, I wouldn't recommend CHE unless it's for a high temp/arid species and/or temporary supplemental ambient heat for cold winter nights.
