Scale/belly Rot

Okay...here's the thing...I've done my research and since I'm a visual-type person I'm sorta toast....

N-E-one know of GOOD pics of scale rot? I'd like to learn and now that I've had a snake for a while, I'd like to learn some of the "uglies" and how to treat/care for them. I've got the "good & the bad" and need to learn uglies.

Can someone help? Most sites I've hit don't have pics, and they'd be most helpful for me.

Thanks for the link. That's very helpful for me to learn what to watch for with my new pets. <Pray and knock on wood > I never have to use the remedies. I'm sure over time I may make mistakes, but after being here, I've learned SOOO much, I'm better prepared for anything that might spring up.


It sooooo difficult to wait before handling my new baby, but P. Snake is doing sooooo soo much better. Not pounding the glass as soon as I enter the room, and hasn't tried to bite the last time I fed him. :D

Can't remember if anyone has suggested to you to add in newspaper balls to help P. Snake feel more secure and calm down a bit. Keep at it slow and steady. Our Brannagh was just a total witch when we got her and she's still not a snake I fully trust but with slow, steady, consistent routines and advice from this forum, we've gotten her a LOT more calm and accepting of humans. We've even recently started handling her bare handed (though the gloves still come out on feeding night....we ain't nuts! LOL)

You're welcome! I would definitely try the balled up newspaper like Jo said. It works wonders. :D

P***y's doing ooooh so much better. I've been able to handle him more....he just finished his first shed, and it was a head, and then all the rest...Not QUITE a full shed, but purty darn close!! And since then he's been a LOT calmer.


He took a "stab" at the glass yesterday, but I was working at Snoopy's tank & I think my quick movements ticked him off. He does better when I'm just watching him through the glass, or cleaning/changing water.

Thx for the reminder. Adam had suggested the paper balls when I asked to help Baby eat...I had forgotten about that.

So far, my new RTB hasn't even hissed at me. Yaaaaaaaaaaay! :banana::banana: ....when he hissed and kept striking while I was holding him before buying him. But he was fed right before I brought him home. All I have are adult, live mice, when he's used to F/T rat pups, but it's about time to feed him again.....then I have his first shed to look forward to. :D I can't wait!
