indoor/ outdoor carpet

like the stuff from Kmart
is it too rough for a snake or is it excactly the same stuff u buy at the petstore for like 10 buck a square foot?

it isn't the same as the reptile carpet stuff but it is close. i use to use it and i liked it better than the reptile carpet because it is thicker and more durable. there are different types of it, some are more rough, but the kind i used was very low pile and pretty soft as far as indoor/outdoor carpet goes. i got it at lowes.

so there are diff. types?

yeah just go to lowe's to the back and they should have huge rolls of it back there and you can just pick whichever type you like.

Are you talking about a felt-type material, or the plastic "grassy" stuff?

the scratchy stuff is what im wondering about
the felt stuff i use but its exspensive to buy it at a petstore

I think a doormat would have been a better description of what I was talking about, not "grassy." Anyway, this would seem a little too rough and abrasive to me. *shrugs*

If you prefer using that stuff(bacteria-infested stuff that it is, IMO), then go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get the marine carpet made for boats. It is thick pile, soft and has a rubber backing. Very withstanding to stress and strain. I bought a 4'x6' piece of the green colored stuff for my Leopard Geckos(when I had them) for about $7. It's easy to cut with scissors or a box cutter, and fairly easy to wash.

Why not just use aspen or cypress? You can get aspen at any Tractor Supply Co., Petsmart or Petco. Double milled or shredded cypress mulch can be found at Home Depot and Lowe's. I bake it because it usually comes wet, and to avoid buggies from getting into my house, but Amani seemed to love it when I used it. I use aspen now because of convenience. I use it for my rats, so I thought why not use it for the snakes.
