    merry early christmas to me!!!
well christmas just came early at my house. :P my 100% het pied male just arrived from exotics by nature! he is 570 grams and was born march 31st of this year, so hopefully he will breed for me this season. i've got a nice 2700+ gram girl saved just for him. :D

one concern though, when he arrived he was ICE cold. :( i zapped him with my temp gun and his skin temp was 59 degrees! he was packed great with heat packs and everything but he must have been on the truck for a while or something. it's not even that cold here. he was sooo sluggish so i just held him in my lap for a while to warm him up (i felt like plopping him right into a 94 degree warm hide would be a shock to his system--don't know if it would but yeah) and make sure he was going to pick up, which he did but i'm still concerned. he is chilling now in his warm hide, but how worried should i be about an RI or any other negative results from being so cold for who knows how long? (sorry for the downer on a very happy post but i'm worried!)

Did you call Sean to let him know? He has tons of info to give....after all that is one of the main reasons to deal with a breeder, right? Sean is a good guy and I am sure that he won't mind helping.

Last year when I got my normal female in the mail she had a 63 deg. skin temp......I warmed her up and I have not had any problems and it is a year later....I would still keep a watch on him though.

Congratulations on your new addition!!! I'll let the experts here answer your other question, since I don't have the experience that they do! ;)

Do you have a name for him yet?

Oh ya.....and our het pieds are probably brothers too :D

I thought about getting that guy when I was at EbN a few months ago, but I figured I had a whole year before I was breeding so why not raise one of those little guys up ;)

    Congrats on the new addition!

i haven't called sean but i may do that. he seems like a pretty cool guy.

his name is cash--after johnny cash, not after money/cash. although he will eventually make me some nice pied bling! :P

Congrats Emily! Love the name but then I'm a huge Cash fan from way back (before country was cool LOL).

Hope all goes well with him getting chilled. Fingers crossed for you and Cash that it won't cause him any troubles.

just keep his temps up 3-5 degrees for about a week and pay close attention to him. if he was in the cold for a fairly short period of time, and by chance did get a small RI, its more than likly the start of it, and you can stop it by bumping the temps up. dont even worry about humidity while your temps are bumped.
