Woman Swallowed by Python as She Checked on Her Cornfield
Uhhhh.... Story was originally posted in June of 2018, same person.... Even though the 2021 story says "Last Week" in the article

So reality or hyped up myth?? And are 23 Foot reticulated pythons even a thing??

If it's a small weaker person it's very possible. Retics can get up to 30' though it is rare.

No retics can not get up to 30 feet.

The Sulawesi mainland locality is one of the largest so a 23 foot female is possible. Also bear in mind that in Indonesia people don't tend to get as big/tall as people in Europe and the US due to genetics and dietary considerations, so it would be possible for a retic to eat an adult, though again highly unlikely.

You know what they say in the biz: "If it bleeds, it leads!" Sensationalism sells.

I'm not sure I believe this but if a snake can supposedly get 48' 8" then I think a snake could get 30'.

The key words in that news is "claim to have captured"- that means the writer did no real investigation, just took their word for it. ;) See how that works? And coming from another country, it could easily be the fault of math conversion because they don't use inches & feet. No one intended to lie (maybe?) but got the measurements all wrong. Wait for the scientists to verify....

I wish I had some $ for every "6' rattlesnake" I picked up to relocate... None were ever 6', but if they were nearing that size, they also weren't rattlesnakes, they were gopher snakes with rattling tails, lol.

The St. Louis Zoo used to have a 33' python skin on display in their classroom many moons ago. I believe it was a Burmese, though, and not a retic.

I don't doubt that one bit. It's just quite a "leap" to 48'+. Call me a skeptic.

Pretty sure most shedded skins stretch larger than the actual snake ... maybe wrong
