Thinking of changing substrate

I've been using coconut fiber for my BP, but honestly it's rather cumbersome, effectively like working with garden dirt. I have a block for one more cleaning but after that, I'm considering coconut chips instead. Similar enough material, but in what I'm hoping is a more "manageable" form. My one concern is I'll have to be more careful with feeding time so he doesn't accidentally swallow a chunk.

Thoughts from anyone who uses it and/or has had experience with both?

I've tried the crumbly stuff too, & don't care for it for the same reasons- very messy!- though it recycles nicely into my garden. It also tends to get moldy here in my fairly humid climate.

I like & am now using Reptibark...it has a nice texture that also offers better traction for snakes needing a humid substrate. Just put down a "plate" when you feed. (doesn't have to be a real plate, can be a box lid for example)

I’m glad you brought up reptibark. I’ve been thinking about switching from forest floor on my next cleaning.

I've used orchid bark in the past, & the Reptibark is very much like that- I like the size & feel of the chunks- not too tiny & not too large. I'll be buying this again when I run low.

Reptichip and Reptile Prime are my favorite substrates.
