    Pigment loss
Curious about people’s experiences with your BP’s color change as they get older. I know some morphs like pastel and enchi often darken with age, but my snake has an area of scales that seem to be losing their pigment and becoming white. He’s a little over 2.5 years old, and I’ve noticed this happening over the course of probably the past 3 sheds. The photos are about a year and a half apart. The scales themselves seem smooth and undamaged, there’s no stuck shed or anything, they’re just getting white at the edges. He’s a champagne cinnamon paradox, and the lightening is happening on the edge of his paradox spot. I’m not particularly worried, just wondering if other people have seen a loss of pigmentation in their snakes too.

Of course I know nothing about it, but those scales look like they're being worn off. Are snake scales solid-colored all the way through?

I’m not 100% sure if they are pigmented all the way through the scale, but he just shed yesterday and this picture was taken just hours after, so they should be brand new. The texture doesn’t look or feel any different from his other scales.

I don't have any that faded that exact way but I have some that have done something similar where the outer edges of the scales have faded to white as they mature. They are all yellow-belly complex acts-like-super of some form or another for me like puma, superstripe, etc. Perhaps this is something that happens in champagnes? A lot of them have white on their scales like yours, but never having owned one, I don't know if they are born with the scales like that or it develops over time the same way banana black spots do.
