    Appropriate feeding size?
Hi, we added this new girl to our collection. She weighs in at 865g. I asked the breeder what size she's eating.... she said rat pups. I personally feel like this is way small? Am I wrong? What size would you recommend? I saw possibly a small or medium rat? Tomorrow is feeding day trying to figure out all our beforehand. Thanks!https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...ibb.co/fvJ4C18

At 865g, I would be feeding a small rat every 2 weeks. That assumes she’s a healthy 865g. If overweight same size but less frequently. If underweight every 7-10 days.

For her, per picture, I would feed a small rat every 10 days if she will take it. If she skips meals, go to every 2 weeks.

Thank you, she looks great otherwise (finally got the picture to upload in the original message). Thanks!

I agree with what dakski said. She is beautiful! The breeder may have been feeding her smaller items more often, she doesn't look like she is terribly skinny.

I agree with a small rat, but even if (?) you thought she needed a 'medium', it would be much better not to upsize so suddenly. You never want to be "seeing those rats again".
Never hurts to be on the smaller side, but too large CAN hurt if they upchuck it.

You don't need my help, it's right here on the site all the time, what we call a "sticky", meaning it's permanent for reference. ;)
But you recently joined so you're forgiven, there's a lot to "find" on this site! ;)
