What does a snake want in a cage?
I was just looking for some ideas on what else I could put in my cage, (besides a hide box and water dish) that the snake would like. Maybe I am thinking to much on the subject but I just want my snake to be happy.

i have flat rocks for her to rub on. a fake tree for her to climb and lots of fake plants for her to hide in while she hunts.

Security ... as many small dark places that they can cram their bodies into as you can.

If it doesn't involve temps, humidity, eating, drinking, or security, they don't care.

I couldn't agree more. Decorating the vivarium is really done for our own enjoyment, ie making the habitat appear more natural etc. The snake only really cares about a secure place to hide, food, water, temp and humidity as mentioned by Adam. That doesn't mean that it's wrong to place other items in the habitat, especially if it is pleasing to you. Just make sure that what you put in is safe for whatever lives there.

Two hide boxes - one in the cool and one in the hot end. Sorry, you probably meant the two anyway when you wrote it - just me making sure ;)

Apart from hides and the rolled up newspaper balls (like Adam recommends) mine has some plastic greenery up one end too.

Added security........think....what is the difference between a snake in the grass and a snake on just plain dirt? ;)

They definitely like the balls of newspaper - I tried that advice when I first came to this forum and my new baby wouldn't eat - hey presto she ate the following week :D

Balls of newspaper.....leaf litter on the ground....high grasses....low bushes....all the same thing...makes for a happy snake that doesn't feel so exposed.

We did the balled up newspaper trick with Brannagh and it was amazing how quickly she calmed and was able to feel secure enough to use her hides appropriately (prior to that she was on high alert "defending" her entire tub from some preceived threat).
