I currently have my 2 year old ball python in a critter cage 36×18×16 I wanted to get one of those front opening tanks i saw one 36×16×12 should I get it or get one similar in size to what I currently have?

How big is your BP? The size of the snake dictates the size of the enclosure. I personally prefer the front opening enclosures over reaching down form above my animals like a predator would, especially dealing with some of my smaller geckos and snakes.

I'm gonna assume that weight is a typo, if not I want to see that 25 pound ball python

I would say the size enclosure you want to use sounds fine, you may have to upgrade eventually, if it were me, I'd go ahead and spring for a PVC enclosure, but it's up to you. As long as you can keep your husbandry in check in a glass tank I don't see any reason not to use it. Again though, if you're looking for an upgrade why not get something a little nicer?
