I have never had a ball python growing that fast 😯

Hi everyone,

I have purchased a female Super Butter/lesser born in 2019 (not sure exactly when) from someone that couldn't feed her anymore. She was 783 grams when she arrived home mid November and I fed her weekly ASF rats (10-12% of her weight). She always ate like a monster and pooped regularly. She is today 1524 grams !! Have you ever seen a ball python growing that fast ? I have 10 other and none of them have grown like that.
Do you think that's because she might have been underfed in the past ?

Could be she is older an underfed when you got her. ASF will put weight on fast. Had a rescue three year old that was 485g when I got her. In under a year on ASF she was 1289g before she started to look chubby. Then I started feeding every three weeks. She is not happy when the other snakes get fed an she doesn’t.

If your girl looks over weight, change your feeding schedule.

Years ago I experimented feeding litter mates rats an ASF. Same weights for a year. ASF fed snakes weighed 100g or so more, had better color and just better attitudes. Now, every one gets ASF except the adult Berms, RedTails an Retic. But they take rejects when offered.

If she has some length to her, then it wouldn't surprise me to see that weight gain as she bulks up. I had a 20 month old female sitting at 1800 grams while her picky sister was about 1100 and 6" shorter.

This is her growth rate, she actually gain 600g the first month I got her .

Borrowed this from another current thread, and personally, I think your snake looks fine. Looks like a defecation might happen soon though. ;)
