BP not eating, staying on cool side.
Well here’s another “BP not eating thread”. Little information, snake has been in its newest enclosure for close to a year now, have a RHP inside and 2 hides. She has been staying on the cool side a lot lately, and I mean always on cool side, I never see her in her warm hide or even out of hide minus getting water. Last feeding was a month ago that she excepted. I usually get my rats from Bigcheese, they were out forever, kept getting raped by petco, but then recently ordered from rodentpro and she just hasn’t taken any.

What do you guys think? I was planning on warm bathing her tomorrow after work to see if she goes bathroom to see if that’ll help.

No need to bathe. Will only add stress and contribute to a pattern of not feeding. A month without food for an adult Royal is nothing.

What are the temperatures (highest & coolest) in her enclosure? If your RHP isn't controlled by a thermostat, it might be too hot, ever think of that? You need to check -for safety!- with an accurate thermometer. And if it IS too hot (over 91* on any surface she can touch) she can be burned by it. Are you seeing any redness on her?

My thoughts exactly.. the warm hide could easily be far too hot which would explain things

Are you testing temps ( especially under the warm hide ) ??

Have a herpstat 1 on the enclosure, set on high side at 85 degrees. I received my Acurite today and will be putting that in tomorrow because I do not have a AAA battery currently. Now the one I bought has only 1 sensor so I’ll move it back and forth to get the temps in both areas till my next one comes in.

THIS ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ !!! You can't rely on what the t-stat says- it might be way off from what's actually going on where the snake is.

And 85* is too low for the warmest area -IF THAT'S ACCURATE?...you want about 90*. No matter what it says, it might be way off, too high or too low-
    you need to check.

Was able to find a AAA battery, so I never messed with one of these Acurite thermometer’s before. Says record high and low values are recorded for display IN and probe OUT temp/humidity.

So am I going off the temp on the In or Out?

Out is showing right now 95.5 degrees, In is showing a min of 72 and max of 75.7.

Any recommended temp guns? Can’t tell the brand on that picture.

They are all pretty decent ... I've got three of eBay or Amazon all different makes all under $10 and are all within one degree of each other .

Ok I will have to check some out and order. When I get home from work I’ll see what my Acurite says since it’s been sitting for a longer time.
