    Do you feed live rodents? If so, it could be bite wounds- rodents object to being dinner, & even if they don't win the battle, they fight back as best they can.

    It might also be just a wound from something sharp (like a branch?) in his cage- it's hard to say for sure. Best wound care for snakes is Vetericyn ointment, as it's water-based (not petroleum based like ointments made for humans), but in a pinch you can dab on some Betadine solution (povidone-iodine), or a tiny bit of Neosporin ointment (just NEVER the pain relief version). It looks mostly healed anyway, hard to tell though.

    It’s not scale rot. Those are abrasions from jamming its head into things. The wounds line up with the lower jaw bones. My retics used to do that all the time.
