Awful Size Perspective.

I've tried a few times to get this fella (Sniper) into a picture that shows his current size.

I'll say he is the most difficult of the four to get to stay still and stretch out.

I had my daughter snap a few pictures and only one was a "keeper" and that is stretching it.

Pardon the dog gate and extra Thanksgiving chair in the background.

I don't think he's 7 feet quite yet, but easily 6+. He's very heavy but I've not weighed him.

Unfortunately the photo quality is not good. I'll try again in the spring. He's pre-shed here and I'm done handling him until mid April.

Been meaning to ask how often or seldom you handle during their fasting period. Not at all for anyone?

I'll handle the pythons a bit except I rarely have the royal out. I let Sniper ride for the most part. If he sheds again, I may get him out one more time.

The Bredli, Kevin, is still pretty busy and growing. I'll feed him through the winter plus he's a bit flighty so I have to work with him.

Back to Sniper though. He's HEAVY!

Boas, depending on the locale, are a great species for people that want a large, impressive snake tends to be placid and relatively predictable. They don't break the feeding bank like retics or burms, but do carry length and size with some arboreal tendencies to up their display value.

I wish I could get a photo to show Sniper's size like I was able to with the coastal.

Interesting. I’ll probably still handle occasionally through the winter but I don’t handle everything terribly often as is. I just had the Argentine out for the first time in a month. Finally came down from her perch for the first time in 3weeks. I’ll post her up in her thread.

Looking good! I dont even bother trying to get mine to stretch out! It just ain't happening!

Sniper is a beast for sure and looking great Gio. I totally agree that boas make great large, but manageable to handle, snakes to keep. I’m looking forward to seeing my boas as adults but it’ll be awhile. They grow so slow, especially compared to my pythons.

Nothing is overly deliberate. It just works out the way it does. If they are out and about, I may handle them. The royal is hiding 98% of the time, the coastal is super mellow and I'm letting her go until she gets very hungry.

The Bredli is a frequent handler and he's the new one so he's still acclimating. I haven't had him a year yet.

Sniper is a bit more active this time of year than he's been in the past, so he may get out again, especially if he goes blue and sheds.

Next spring should be fun!
