Baby retic feeding question
I have a 2 and a half month old male retic. He’s been on rat pups since he was born and I was wondering if it’s too early at this age to switch to the next size, weaned rats? I feed him every 7 days. Thanks!

should just stick with a larger prey item more spaced out. Every 5 days, your not even allowing the snakes digestive system to slow and and get a break. Your keeping the snake in a constant state of digestion.

I disagree. 5 days is pretty standard for younger snakes, particularly relics who will act like they're ready to eat by day 3.

That schedule wouldn't be forever, just until the OP had used up the supply of pups if he didn't happen to have another snake that would eat them.

In all honesty, he could easily take a weaned or small rat.
Being a male though, I'd recommend growing him slow and easy, offer the rat pups weekly, then upgrade to weaned when you run out.
