Size of Pro Heat panel for T8
Hi,
I'm making a decision on which Pro Heat panel to order for two T8 cages with shelves. I'll be housing one ball python in each cage. I have gotten recommendations from Pro Heat on 2 different sizes - 75 watt i.e., 12" by 18" (if room temp is mid 60s and up) or 100 watt i.e., 12" by 24" (if room temp goes below 65). For those of you who have T8, can you take a minute to tell me:
1) what wattage/size you got
2) your room temp in summer and winter,
3) the challenges you have, and
4) if you were to do it again, would you pick the same size or would you size up or down and why
Thank you very much for your feedback!
Re: Size of Pro Heat panel for T8
I'd suggest looking into the VE 80-watt. Personally, not a fan of Pro Heat panels. They're hard to clean and feel that there are better designs out there.
I'm currently using 80-watt rhp with summer temps hitting 84 in the reptile room. The lowest it gets in my house would be low 60s. Anything lower than that and the heater kicks in.

They also suggested a 75 watt for the same cage when I contacted them. I'm in the SF Bay area, and I don't have AC, so my home never gets really cold. But if I was on the fence, i'd get the larger one. If it's on a thermostat, then what's the harm... the extra size/heat may not be needed, but if it is, you'll have it. No harm if having one that's more then what you need if you have it on a thermostat anyway.

was in a similar situation as you before I made my snake room and got the heating sorted out. T8 with a 75 watt panel. Go with the 100. 75 is enough and works but I would of appreciated the extra that much more
