    Odd feedimg behaviour
    Hi

So I bought a huge pied female 2.6kg last December. During the breeding season she didn't eat at all. No interest what so ever. She was paired but did not become gravid.

In early March she started to smash food weekly . Ive honestly never seen such an appetite in any snake ive owned.

She hasn't eating in the last month. Nothing odd about that. However she looks extremely interested, tounge flicking , pacing up and down as soon ass I turn the hair dryer on to heat food . All these and other signs she gave when she started to eat after fasting. Does not take the food though.

Anybody witnessed this behaviour before? Or know the reason why she's doing this?

Nothing has changed.. food type, enclosure etc.

The only thing I can think of that would explain it from a breeding standpoint is that the female held onto sperm and started building late on. I’ve never heard of that timing happening before, but I do know that they can hold sperm for quite some time. That would explain the disinterest, sudden peak of interest, and then assuming the build didn’t take, disinterest again.

Outside of that, could be just a weird snake lol. I’ve had smaller and younger females go through periods of disinterest for no apparent reason before. Keep in mind too that breeding season to us might is a specific time of year, but to the snake it’s based on environmental changes, so if it came from a different breeding rotation or even if something like heating has changed that can influence them to be odd.
